Having worked thirty years and more in England, my husband and I know the stress of life in the fast lane, of making ends meet, of trying to be all things to everyone and being too tired to identify the part we play for ourselves in our own life.
And then we moved to Spain ……… .
After twelve years there, we didn’t actually feel any better. Did I think the grass would be greener on the other side? Did I get any of the alleged benefits that I decided to upsticks for?
When you weigh up what you have supposedly gained against what you have truly lost, you may find that having left your home turf hit hard.
I’m ordinary. I’m proud to be common, rather than classy. Yes – I am me. And proud to be so.
